The Church of United Spiritualism of Australia was brought into being by the efforts, dedication and determination of its founder, the Arch Reverend Anne McCann, then of Sydney, New South Wales, and duly registered as a Denomination and a self-governing body by the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Australia on the 25th August 1975, with a Constitution drafted by her, now the Reverend Ministers of the Denomination by the agreement of a majority of them voting thereon have agreed to replace such original Constitution by the Articles set out.

The Church of United Spiritualism of Australia is dedicated to bring about an understanding of the Seven Principles with which we interact in our ministry work, meditation, development groups, healings, reading and healing days as well as pastoral care.

We ensure that the ordained/registered Ministers of The Church of United Spiritualism of Australia uphold the philosophy of Spiritualism as laid out in the Seven Principles of Spiritualism.

What is Spiritualism?

Spiritualism is a progressive philosophy that has no fixed doctrines or beliefs. Spiritualism combines religion, philosophy and science and is based on a belief in the continuous existence of the Soul and the ability to communicate with those Souls have departed from the physical.

Spiritualists do not have any dogmas or creed but are guided by the 7 principles. The Principles were originally received through the mediumship of Emma Hardinge Britten, one of the many pioneers of Spiritualism, and they are open to the interpretation as each person understands them.

Spiritualism is a religion because it strives and works with the physical, mental and spiritual laws of nature. It is a philosophy because it studies the laws of nature both of the seen and unseen planes of life, and bases it conclusions upon present observed facts. Spiritualism is a science because it investigates, analyses and classifies facts and manifestations demonstrated from the Spirit side of life.

A Spiritualist is one who believes, as the basis of his or her religion, in the communication between our world and the Spirit world by means of mediumship.
